What Climbers Say After Summiting

Real reviews from climbers who reached Uhuru Peak with our team.

Mussa was incredible. Patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in my summit. The guides check your oxygen levels twice a day — I felt completely safe the entire time. He made summit night feel achievable, not terrifying.

I was terrified of altitude sickness. Ali explained exactly what to expect and helped me manage my fear. No panic, no drama. Just a professional team doing their job perfectly. Would climb again tomorrow.

The 8-day Lemosho route was the right choice. Juma paced us perfectly. I summited feeling strong, not broken. Best money I have ever spent. The porters were treated with respect, the cook made incredible meals at altitude.

The Direct Operator Advantage

Why Book Direct With Mount Kilimanjaro Climb?

Most "Kilimanjaro tour" websites are owned by brokers — foreign companies that resell climbs from local operators at a 30–40% markup. You pay more. Your guides get paid less. The experience is the same.

Mount Kilimanjaro Climb has been operating climbs from Arusha since 1978. We own our vehicles, employ our guides directly, and manage our own camps. When you book with us, you are booking the company that actually runs your climb — not a reseller.

Our Story

48 Years on Kilimanjaro — One Family, One Mountain

In 1978, Bobby Tours was founded in Arusha with a single Land Rover and a belief that travellers deserved a real local operator — not a broker. Today, the third generation of the family manages Mount Kilimanjaro Climb alongside the same guiding team that has been reaching Uhuru Peak for decades.

We are not the biggest. We are not the most heavily marketed. We are the oldest — and our 95% summit success rate is the reason climbers come back and refer their friends.

Frequently Asked Questions

How hard is it to climb Kilimanjaro?
Physically demanding but technically straightforward. No ropes, no climbing experience required. The main challenge is altitude — our longer itineraries (7–9 days) dramatically improve your summit odds by giving your body more time to acclimatize.
What is the best route for first-time climbers?
Lemosho 8-day or Northern Circuit 9-day give you the best summit success odds. The Machame 7-day is the most popular compromise between time and success rate. We recommend the longest itinerary your schedule allows.
When is the best time to climb Kilimanjaro?
January–March (dry, colder summit nights) and June–October (dry, warmer) are the main climbing seasons. December–January has the clearest summit views. April–May is the long rainy season — we do not recommend climbing then.
How much does a Kilimanjaro climb cost?
Our climbs start from $1,895 per person for the Machame 7-day. This includes all park fees, camping equipment, meals on the mountain, guides, porters, and transfers from Arusha. International flights and tips are not included.
Do I need a guide to climb Kilimanjaro?
Yes — Tanzania law requires all climbers on Kilimanjaro to be accompanied by a registered guide. Going solo or with an unregistered operator is illegal and dangerous.
