December is two months in one: wet early, excellent late.
What to Expect in December
Early December continues any remaining short rains from November. By mid-December, conditions typically improve sharply as the dry season reasserts itself. December 20 through January 5 is one of the busiest periods on the mountain — many climbers book over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. If you're climbing over Christmas or New Year, expect near-July crowd levels. Conditions are generally excellent from December 15 onward.
