Machame Route in July
July is peak season — peak conditions and peak crowds.
What to Expect in July
The most popular month on Kilimanjaro, and for good reason. Weather is near-perfect: dry, clear, cold. Summit nights can be intensely cold (-15 to -18°C) but with the right gear, this is manageable. Views from Uhuru are exceptional. The trade-off: you will share the mountain with hundreds of other climbers. Summit night can have 50–100+ headlamps on the trail ahead of you. This creates a queue effect, particularly between Barafu and Stella Point. Book 3–4 months in advance.
Our verdict
Best weather of the year. Also busiest. Book early — departures fill fast.
Machame Route
The most popular route. Scenic loop, Barranco Wall, 7-day acclimatization schedule.
