you don’t need any preparation for climbing Kilimanjaro or Meru, the main reason why people fail to reach the top due to altitude sickness and lack of time to acclimatise the rarified air, and not the body fitness.
What is the best season to climb mt. kilimanjaro & Mt. meru?
Mount Kilimanjaro can be climbed most of the year, although it is inadvisable during the rainy season, which is April and May and during the short rains in November.

Marangu Route (another name Coca Cola) – (5-6 days) the oldest, and most popular one, also is the only ascent trail Where camping is not necessary, indeed not allowed, trekkers sleeping in dormitory huts along the way-trail take Minimum of 5 days 4 night the extra day is taken to help trekkers acclimatize.

Shira plateau Route, (5 -8 days each) is the west-to-east across the Shira plateau. Shira Route is very similar to the Lemosho route but is the original trail It is nearly identical to the Lemosho route. Shira due to its high altitude on starting point can be accessed very quickly but vehicles. This route is not very likable by most people. This route offers some of the best sunrises and sunsets on Kilimanjaro.

improves on the Shira plateau Route by starting below the Ridge, thus providing trekkers with a walk in the forest at the stand of the trek, giving them time to acclimatize. On the first day, you will be sleeping on Mti Mkuubwa (a big tree). Lemosho might need a little bit of physically fit people with some hiking experience, but anyone else with no hiking background experience can do it also.

Rongai (Loitokitoki) – from (5 -6 days) by using this route you can approach Kibo (summit) from the northern zone, near the Kenyan border. Probably the only route in which you see wildlife in the first days is possible. This is a flat condition route which is not ideal for acclimatization.

Umbwe route (5 – 6 days) is a tough trail and the shortest route and not to mention the direct route, because of its ascent profile, it has a relatively low summit rate.
There is only one main route up to Mt. Meru
Mount Meru lying at the heart of Arusha National park, with many numbers of wildlife animals like buffalo, giraffes, elephants, bushbuck, dik-dik, colobus, blue monkey, and warthog on the way. Mt. Meru is located just north of Arusha city.
