When you book with us, you're not booking a package. You're booking our reputation, our guides' expertise, and our commitment to your safety and success.
Guide Quality: The Real Difference
Juma: 16 Years, 500+ Summits
Our lead guide. Started climbing in 2010. Has summited Kilimanjaro more times than most people have taken vacations. Knows every camp, every switchback, every altitude challenge.
When Juma is your guide, you're learning from someone who's managed altitude sickness, led first-timers, guided experienced climbers, and handled emergencies—hundreds of times.
All Guides Are Certified
- Licensed by Tanzania National Parks Authority
- Trained in altitude medicine and emergency response
- Speak fluent English
- Average 10+ years experience on the mountain
- Know your name. Know your climbing goals. Know your fears.
We don't rotate guides last-minute. You meet your guide before the climb. You get to know them. They get to know you. Trust is built before you even start walking.
Small Groups, Personal Attention
Most operators run groups of 8-12 climbers per guide. We cap at 4-6 climbers per guide. This difference matters.
What You Get With Small Groups
- Personalized pace: Your guide adjusts speed to YOUR acclimatization, not the group average
- One-on-one attention: Your guide knows if you're struggling with altitude before you do
- Flexibility: Rest day? Extra acclimatization? Your guide can adjust the schedule
- Real conversation: You're not just a number. Your guide cares about your experience
- Safety: Fewer people = easier to manage emergencies, more staff attention
Large groups are cheaper to operate. We choose smaller groups because they summit more reliably and enjoy the experience more.
Ethical Practices:
Many operators exploit porters. We don't.
What Certification Means
- Fair wages: Porters earn above minimum wage
- Insurance: Medical coverage for all porters
- Equipment: Porters get proper gear, not hand-me-downs
- Load limits: Maximum 20kg per porter (many operators overload to 30-40kg)
- Rest days: Porters get proper rest, not rushed
- No child labor: Strict age verification
- Dignity: Porters are treated as team members, not servants
When you book with Mount Kilimanjaro Climb, porters can feed their families AND climb safely. This costs more to operate. We do it anyway.
Safety Record: 95% Success, Zero Deaths
The Numbers
95% Summit Success Rate
Industry average is 60-70%. Ours is 95%.
Zero Deaths in 48 Years
4,000+ climbers. Zero fatalities. Dozens of competitors can't say the same.
How We Achieve This
- Pulse oximeters: Every climber gets monitored. We catch altitude sickness early, before it becomes dangerous.
- Proactive descents: If a climber isn't acclimatizing, we descend. No ego. Safety first.
- Route choice: We recommend Lemosho and Northern Circuit for first-timers, not Machame. Better acclimatization = higher success.
- Medical training: All guides trained in altitude medicine. Emergency evacuation insurance mandatory.
- Slow pace: Pole pole. No rushing. We have time for acclimatization.
Personalized Preparation
We don't treat every climber the same. Your background matters. Your fitness matters. Your goals matter.
What You Get Before Climb
- Free training plan tailored to YOUR fitness level and route choice
- Altitude acclimatization consultation with your guide (via phone/email before climb)
- Personal email check-ins: "How's training going? Any concerns?"
- Honest feedback: "This route isn't right for you. Here's why. Try this one instead."
- Risk assessment: Pre-climb health questionnaire. Doctors notified if needed.
- Medication guidance: Discuss Diamox, altitude medications with certified guides
We want you to summit. We invest in your success BEFORE you arrive in Tanzania.

48 Years of Consistent Excellence
Kilimanjaro tourism is young. Many operators started in the last 10 years. We've been here since 1978.
We've survived tourism booms and busts. We've adapted to park regulations. We've maintained ethical standards when others cut corners.
That consistency matters. We're not here to make quick money. We're here for the next 48 years.
